Global SDG Projects

Finding Solutions, Taking Action

Our mission is to make learning global by creating connections between students across six continents. Over the course of two years, we launched several global education projects focusing on various UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs were launched by the UN in 2015 in efforts to make our world a better place by the year 2030. All projects were endorsed by public figures and covered by media across 40 countries

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Formal education tends to be restricted to knowledge acquisition, memorization and examination. Traditionally, there is little interaction between students from different classrooms, schools and countries. We are in a time where citizens are ready to take action on global issues like poverty, refugees, and climate change. Education is more than pouring knowledge into our students’ heads; it is also about offering skills and bringing empathy into our classroom, and creating impact.

HOW ARE WE HELPING TO RESOLVE?

During these student-centered self-inquiry projects, students explored, brainstormed, created, discussed, connected, presented, and shared their findings via videos (asynchronous) and Skype sessions (synchronous). During webinars, they were able to learn from real experts and they were able to find solutions, and even take action. Each project was run over the course of one month, and led to some incredible results.

ROADMAP

GLOBAL SDG PROJECTS

THE WATER PROJECT
NOV 2016

10 schools - 10 countries
More than 1.2 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. Project Water is a global collaboration between 10 schools from 6 continents in which students try to identify water issues and find solutions on local and global scale: water shortage and clean water, water pollution facts, health benefits of water and how we waste water.

THE HUMAN DIFFERENCES PROJECT
APR 2017

50 schools - 35 countries
Students were asked to think about and come up with solutions to some of the following:

Why are people starting wars and building walls? Why are women not treated the same as men? What can we do to overcome the challenges some differences bring to our lives and our communities? How can we build bridges instead of invisible and literal walls between us?

THE CLIMATE ACTION PROJECT
OCT 2017

500 schools - 90 countries
During this project, tens of thousands of students across 90 countries explore and brainstormed about the causes and effects of climate change, both locally and globally.

THE INNOVATION PROJECT
MAY 2018

500 schools - 80 countries
During this project, students had to focus on Innovation. How can we make our world sustainable and how can we use innovation for the best? Students had to create a prototype and had to submit their idea.
